We are organising a charity sew day in Chorley and trying to go bigger and better than our session in 2022. Julie from Making for charity is joining us again. She designed the patterns and has been making a huge difference in communities for many years now. It is a non profit organisation, dedicated to improving the lives of others: their mission is to use our talents to bring a smile to people who need it most 🙂
We’ll be making syringe driver bags for drainage bottles, most frequently used following mastectomies and mastectomy heart pillows, items which it’s sad to say are highly in demand.
If you can sew and would like to help we’d love your help. If you can’t sew maybe you can help iron or cut out fabric, stuff the hearts or pop the tags on and bag them.
Last time we managed to make around 150 mastectomy pillows and syringe driver bags and we allocated sewing time slots, we are doing the same again but we have been given a suite at Chorley Football club which is more accessible and gives us more space.
Refreshments will be available, we have 13 studio sewing machines you can use and we have space for those who have their own machines to come along and join in too, this should give us maximum productivity and allow those who love to sew to stay all day if they want too..
We are also interested in raising money on the day for the Suzy Orrsome Foundation and Stacey Withington so if anyone can donate a raffle prize please get in touch, via the chat or email [email protected]
If you'd like to join us, simply click the 25th October on the calendar on this page, select the time slot you're available for and submit your details. We'll then be in touch to tell you what happens next,
Can you sew and have all the materials at home to make some bags or pillows. Here are links to the pattern and instructions. You can make then drop them off at the studio before the event or even after is fine, they are always required at our local hospitals. Our address is 9 St George's Street. Chorley PR7 2AA
