Who’s a fan of a memory bear? 

In one day we will teach you the techniques and you will make a beautiful memory bear, it is such a lovely size.  You can bring along fabric that holds special memories or just choose some of your favourite fabrics.

The Memory bear class is for confident beginners as you will need to have some prior sewing experience before joining in. The pattern isn’t too complicated but does involve a number of rather tricky seams, sewing small areas and a bit of pinning, a little hand sewing will be required too when you get to the bear's cute face.

We are including the paper pattern of the Melody bear in this class which needs to be collected from the studio or we can post it out to you.  We also include the eyes and felt for the nose.  You then need to bring your fabric and some toy stuffing, interfacing and have the pattern all cut out and ready to start cutting your fabric and sewing your bear. 

You will have full use of sewing machines and equipment during the class.

Are you after mastering how to make professional looking cushions with piping and a zip? We cover cushion making in our beginners class but we feel there is a need to have a night class dedicated to making cushions.  Maybe you can sew but have never tackled a piped cushion or maybe you feel a little rusty? Then this class is perfect for you, in 3 hours we will make a cushion cover to fit an 18”/45cm cushion pad.  You will learn how to make and insert your own piping and how to insert a zip closure.

The fabric is provided for the class, then you just need to bring along a cushion pad.  If you want to bring your own fabric to match some curtains or something at home we will give you a list of the required supplies in your confirmation email.Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

Have you ever tried or fancied making your own Roman Blinds? 

Getting a professional finish and learning the tricks of the trade is essential, so we have the perfect one day c​lass.

Run by a professional curtain and blind maker, Jo Naylor.

You will learn everything you need in order to tackle making your own blinds for your home. We will cover:

How to measure up and plan for your own bespoke blinds

Calculate the fabric required

Prepare your fabric for a professional finish 

Use our studio sewing machines to sew the whole blind together with your choice of lining. 

We will not provide the child safety track but point you in the direction of where to get them and how to make a child safety compliant Roman blind.

After the class you will be able to measure up any window in your home, choose fabric of your choice and make your own bespoke Roman blind with a professional finish.

All you have to do is bring along your fabric and some lunch, refreshments are provided.

You will make a beautiful Roman blind to take home with you. Spaces are very limited as we need a lot of space for this  course.  Your booking confirmation will contain all the information required for you to prep (measure your window and calculate your fabric) ahead of the class. Are you ready to discover the joy and art of Free motion embroidery using a sewing machine?

In this 3 hour class, you'll get hands-on experience with using an open toe darning foot to allow you to create pictures and stitches with your machine.  

Our friendly and experienced tutor, Ruth, will guide you every step of the way in a supportive and fun environment, with plenty of useful hints and tips along the way.

What You'll Learn and Create:

The first part of the class will involve us showing you how to set up your machine ready for free motion embroidery and then we will have plenty of practice doodling away with the sewing machine

Project

The second part of the class will involve creating a picture with hares from a choice of two designs, using our studio templates.  We will also show you how to use inktense pencils to add another dimension to your picture. All sewing machines are threaded and ready to go, so you can just come in and start creating. Our small class size ensures you get plenty of individual attention, making this a great opportunity to have a go at free motion embroidery and have fun with like-minded individuals.

Are you after a fun 2 hours that doesn’t require any prior knowledge or skill?

The lampshade class is the perfect class for you and great for dipping your toe into the world of soft furnishings. You can make yourself some super fancy lamp shades at a fraction of the cost.

What to bring:

0.5m of light/medium weight non stretch fabric (must be at least 1m wide and not too thick)

Cotton fabric is perfect for your first time.  We have some lovely fabrics so you could even book last minute and just turn up and decide on the night and we will give you 10% off any chosen fabric. 

You can also bring fringing or pom-poms for the bottom if you wish, you will need 1m of this if you do.

Would you love to be able to do something that looks good and incorporate some simple stitches with some scraps of fabric?  This class is for you, we will be teaching you how to use fabric and embroidery stitches on denim. This can be used to create amazing geometric designs on everything from cushion covers to tote bags and it's also a great way to decorate or mend and repair garments (especially jeans and denim jackets!).
